Doesn't a mixed state satisfy the Ignorance Interpretation by definition?
Concerning a pure state, does it negate the Ignorance Interpretation
because it's a linear combination of pure state vectors in some Hilbert
Space? Brent was emphatic, writing "exactly wrong", that the Ignorance
Interpretation could be applied presumably to a linear combination of pure
states, but never proved his claim. OTOH, Quentin, offered a possible
example why the Ignorance Intepretation could not be applied to a linear
combination, presumably consisting of basis vectors, but had a typo near
the beginning of his example, which I flagged, but which he hasn't
corrected, so I gave up on his example. So, what is the status of mixed and
pure states with respect to the Ignorance Interpretation, and why? TY, AG
