Well they can't die so they can at worst have anxiety about being
superseded and consequently no longer used. Why should they have such
anxiety? What would make you anxious about going into a dreamless coma
for a few years before again being wide awake and good as new? You'd
miss friends. Your knowledge would be more out-of-date than ever, but
do you have an ego that cares?
I think it's pretty much a non-problem. Cats and dogs are more
conscious in the relevant aspects that even a super-intelligent AI.
