There appears to be a problem printing the following file with evince: ftp://ftp.ams.org/pub/tex/doc/amsmath/short-math-guide.pdf
We experience this problem under FC6 with evince 0.6.0/poppler 0.5.4 and under a very recent unbuntu with evince 2.22.1/poppler 0.6.4. Some printers simply crash when this file is printed. Other printers such as the HP 4350 refuse to print the file and complain of a memory issue. Printing the file with Linux Acroread 8.1.1 succeeds. When we print the document to a file we get this: -rw-r--r-- 1 fc6 fc6 1016648 Apr 17 11:52 output-vince.ps -rw------- 1 fc6 fc6 5144615 Apr 17 11:57 output-acroread.ps -rw------- 1 fc6 fc6 1423549 Apr 17 11:59 output-acro-mem.ps -rw-r--r-- 1 fc6 fc6 1727403 Apr 17 13:10 short-math-guide.org.ps The acroread file "not optimized for memory" is 5MB, the "optimized for memory file" is 1.4MB. The evince output is only 1MB. I suspect that something has been left out of the evince output - just a guess! On one of the printers (Oce 3165) the printer reports the evince output as a 0 length file before its fatal attempt to print it.
