What is the best-quality way to print the pages as imagefiles? I used "pdftoppm -r 200 ei02.pdf ei02" for now.
Demo of the scrapbook copy is in the screenshots: http://www.uta.fi/~majuko/scrapbookcopydemo.tar.gz Note: The rendering quality is bad mainly because non-filtered sampling is used (pdftoppm did good work). When properly done, the text should be well readable. I fix it later. The sequence shows how I copy/paste/organize interesting pieces. Then, just to show the features, I copy/paste a part of the whole. Zoom and pan. And finally move the re-copied interesting pieces. Doing scrapbook with my document viewer is very fast and very friendly: counting mouse clicks and filesaves (none), and comparing to GIMP and all that manual work you suggested to me earlier here. My document viewer is able to handle thousands of PDF files once they have been converted to images. That solves the problem that Evince is not able to scope with 100+ PDFs. Simply opening 40 PDFs at the same time, freezes Evince for tens minutes. My document viewer shows thousands PDFs in a split second. I won't go back to a PDF viewer in my free doc projects. I now just need the best way to print the documents to images. Can such a printer find out the needed DPI resolution itself? E.g., the DPI search is stopped when no new details are found.
