Upgrading poppler AND evince to newer versions from Fedora 13 (aka Rawhide)
seems to have fixed the problem.
I guess the commit you mentioned is in that version.
I previously upgraded evince but not poppler
$ rpm -qa | grep popp && rpm -qa | grep evince
poppler-data-0.4.0-1.fc13.noarch
poppler-glib-0.12.4-1.fc13.i686
poppler-0.12.4-1.fc13.i686
poppler-utils-0.12.4-1.fc13.i686
evince-libs-2.29.5-2.fc13.i686
evince-2.29.5-2.fc13.i686
