The problem is that the document does not show any text, at least that is what I (do not) see when I look at it on openSUSE 11.2, evince versions 2.28.2 and git, poppler version git, cairo 1.8.8. When I use poppler-glib-demo, it also shows no text. With pdftoppm the text does come out fine. So it is either a libcairo or poppler-cairo problem I guess. Carlos, do you see all the text in the document?
