I don't know], in which case it legally must be Open Source Evince does have many GPL dependencies, but that does not mean that it legally has to be Open source, but it does mean a notice has to be distributed with the software, saying that that gpl software is included with a copy of the license AFAIK (see: proprietary linux kernel modules).
