Evince uses gvfs to store metadata associated with a file. You can check it in a terminal, with something like: $ gvfs-info <file> If you move/copy the file with mv, cp, or any other non-gvfs-aware command, the metadata will be lost. -- Germán Poo-Caamaño http://calcifer.org/
