It really requires being able to change the display of the tree list of messages, dynamically, to compress things into a single column of text with multiple lines per row. Otherwise, the mail list is too wide to make this useful at all.
One way to use evolution is to just use the external mail display window that you get by double clicking on an item in the list. Though, this may have different behaviour with viewing next/prev when you go through the list, since it is essentially the same as opening multiple evolution mail windows. Then you can turn off the "preview" area. While the "mails are longer" argument makes sense, it conflicts with the idea that the preview pane is for previewing. Previews don't tend to show you all of the info. :) -- dobey On Wed, 2004-08-11 at 20:47 +0200, gabor wrote: > hi, > > how hard would it be to implement a 'vertical' mail view... > like you can find in mozilla-thunderbird, pan or in outlook. > > or simply see this screenshot from pan (news reader): > http://z10n.net/pan-vertical.png > > i think you all know the reason for thi feature: > the mails you usually get are longer than wide. > > i don't know anything about the evolution source code. > 1.how hard would it be to implement this? > 2.if for example i implement it, could this feature be added to > evolution? > > thanks, > gabor _______________________________________________ evolution-hackers maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers
