The bounty link mentioned in the bug is broken -- here it is: http://gnome.org/bounties/Mailer.html#127530 > First of all, how can I retrieve the list of all languages available > to the user? Should it be that languages that have evolution > localization available (How can I determine which languages have > evolution l10n? Should I go through $prefix/share/locale/ and find > evolution-1.5.mo?) Or should it be just all languages that are defined > in ISO 639 (Is there any other way than to hardcode it, than?). > It seems usefull to have names of all languages localized to all > languages (because evolution needs to show a list of available > languages to the user). How can I get this? IMHO getting the list of available options / languages from the locales would be a very bad idea. $ find . -name "evolution-2.0.mo" | wc -l 55 As I understand the bounty, one of it's main aims is to set the spell checking language. You can get those languages available from Tools / Settings / Composer Preferences / Spell Checking which is the same list as Edit / Current Languages in the Composer. Anyway, the animated GIF definitely shows the *wrong* UI for spell checking. Cause it lets you select *one* option only. One of the main benefits of Evolution and how it handles Spell Checking to me is, that I can enable multiple languages. German and English here. I do write a lot in both languages (as you probably all know ;-) and I don't have to worry about switching Languages at all. If I would have to switch languages (due to the lack of multiple choices), this would be hell for me and a lot of other folks on the mailing list. This topic nearly was beaten to death, about a year ago... > Second, I need to get strings from different locales (because of > changing those "On DATE, PERSON wrote:" labels). Should I do it using > setlocale() before and after obtaining that strings, or any other way? As Jeff mentioned, this is planned to become a user configurable string anyway. Which leaves a nice iconified flag drop-down menu to set "the Content- Language header, and various other things". Although I dunno, what "other things" are... Maybe the UI team should take care of this bounty and re-consider before anyone starts hacking on it. Should I poke Anna? ...guenther -- char *t="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"; main(){ char h,m=h=*t++,*x=t+2*h,c,i,l=*x,s=0; for (i=0;i<l;i++){ i%8? c<<=1: (c=*++x); c&128 && (s+=h); if (!(h>>=1)||!t[s+h]){ putchar(t[s]);h=m;s=0; }}} _______________________________________________ evolution-hackers maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers
