Probably not a priority as it is fairly inconvenient in a gui mail
client if say you have focus follows mouse and your mouse drops into the
wrong window while you're typing something.  A bit like trying to type
into vi, when you are in command mode, and hit shift lock ...

Otherwise I agree, it'd be nice.

You can change the bindings in the share/gnome/ui/evolution-mail.xml
file yourself though, if you want to do this (and change a bunch of
other things too, like toolbars and menus).
