However ...

What exactly are you trying to achieve?  Transmit of messages in an
encoded format, or storage in an encoded format?

The former can't be done for unencrypted mails, unless you use SSL
connections and the like.

And, well, self-encrypting mails doesn't sound terribly useful, if
you're trying to stop, say, the company looking at your mail, they'll
presumably have access to the private key you'll need to view the mail
anyway ...

But if you really wanted to do it, passing things through an encryptor
via, say, a procmail filter, would probably be the go.
