In response to Ristesh Khadgaray (Le samedi 05 août 2006 à 05:31 +0530),
re my question #1

Re my point that in Mnadriva, there is no folder called /Desktop, Ritesh
proposes that
.

The Directory in /home/yvesbaja/Desktop reads as follows:

Quote

[Desktop Entry]
BgImage=
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=desktop
Type=Directory

[IconPosition::Corbeille]
X=-1
Y=-170

Endquote

Thwn Ritesh asks:

> Is this related to the below gconf-key ?

> /apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_is_home_dir
In file ///etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/apps/nautilus/preferences/%
gconf.xml, the only file (indicatged at the end of thereference, is
empty.

ditto in file:///etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/apps/nautilus/desktop/%
gconf.xml

Therefore, I do not see to well, how: (as Ritsdh says):

>If set to true, then Nautilus will use the user's home folder as the

Now, from the liste of folders mentioned in my previous message and
repeated here, there probably is one, which fits Murray Trainer's script
(it was not in Andre's message) thanks to you, Murrray:

quote

# Set Firefox as hander for HTTP and HTTPS URL's
/opt/gnome/bin/gconftool-2 --type=string
--set /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command "/usr/bin/firefox %s"
/opt/gnome/bin/gconftool-2 --type=string
--set /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/https/command "/usr/bin/firefox %s"
# Set Evolution as hander for MAILTO URL's
/opt/gnome/bin/gconftool-2 --type=string
--set /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/mailto/command
"/opt/gnome/bin/evolution %s"
#

endquote

Where I replaced
/opt/gnome/bin/ by /usr/bin/ ,

and

firefox by mozilla-firefox
and
evolution by evolution-2.4 , which are the correct name of the programs
on by usr/bin

Now thre remains taht desktop folders are found in 12 locations, two of
which I tested and don't work; (#2 and # 12)

Here is the list:..
> >      1. /home/yvesbaja (my user name)

> >      3. /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/desktop
