Last hurdle seems to be solved. I turned off the Mail Notification
plugin in Evolution and now the external Mail Notification works. I get
these errors ...

Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon for stock: Icon 'evolution' not
present in theme

But they don't seem to be effecting Evolution or Mail Notification, so
everything is working. Now, if someone could tell me how to solve the
problem above, that would be great.
