$which evolution
/usr/local/bin/evolution

I keep my /usr/local clean for the most part, except when I am compiling stuff 
like Evolution.
Right now, no other evolution or data-server is on my system.

And rebuilding both did not change anything.  I know I saw the "Exchange-MAPI 
yes" after the autogen.sh finished.

I'm not using the MAPI, but i did glance at the instructions, and i seem to 
recall that the executable was installed outside the 'normal' area -- just make 
sure you're actually starting the exes that you think you are...
