The only way to do it would be for Evo to remember the username/password you use for IMAP and use it to login to the SMTP server - which will mean they are hanging around in memory. Why don't you want Evo to remember the password? They are stored in the encrypted Gnome keyring which can be passworded - which means that you will be asked to enter the password once only per gnome session. 2. No, Evo is not designed to be put in the tray. But if you close Evo the background data processes still run and the tray mail notification icon still works, so you will be notified of new mail.
