Has anyone else seen a similar problem? > More importantly, does anyone know of a solution? > The "Formatting ..." is basically just saying that Evo is trying to display the email. I occasionally get it and it seems to be to do with Evo failing to get info from the network and I solved most of mine by turning off the "Load images only for people in your address book.." - it was ultimately because Evo was trying to search a large on-line ldap database.
Another thing to look at is slow or dodgy net connections to the IMAP server. I have two (actually lots more!) identical Evo setups at work and home - the work one that is on the same LAN as the servers is usually fine, the home one at the end of an ADSL line hangs, especially when first starting up when there are lots of net connections. When it does happen, rather than shutting down Evo completely, try clicking on the connection icon in the lower left hand corner - that will put Evo off line and will effectively reset all the connections. Clicking it again will put you back on line. (But don't try and synch the folders - otherwise you'll be there all day!)
