Thanks for the explanation. That makes perfect sense. I removed
davmail and evolution-alarm-notify from the startup applications list
and created a script to start davmail first, wait 10 seconds and then
start evolution-alarm-notify. I put that in the startup applications
and that seems to be doing the trick.
