Sounds like it could be this: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=593020 Given that the behaviour with separate conditions is satisfactory, it seems like this could be relatively easy to correct. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with evolution's code and I haven't had the time to pore through it to identify a solution.
