Hi all, So I got a cheap Android phone a few weeks ago for $99 outright, and am liking the automatic syncing of contacts between the phone and the "My contacts" category of http://google.com/contacts .
Contact syncing nirvana is now within reach, with the web, my phone, and my desktop Evo client all sharing the same personal contact list, and contacts being viewable/addable/deletable/editable on all clients, and automatically synced between all clients. However there are a few omissions in Evolution's Google contacts function that prevents this from happening as well as I would like. Specifically: * The "address book properties" dialog box in Evolution doesn't seem to allow specifying which folder/label of contacts to use. Instead it seems to use "All Contacts". This tends to contain a lot of cruft (since gmail I think auto-adds contacts to the address book using this label/folder). In my case "My contacts" is the folder/label I'd like to select. * Some contact properties are not editable in Evo, but they seem to be available/supported in Google contacts. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=625330 mentions notes and birthdays. There's a few more though, namely: Nickname field, the "other phone" phone number type, web address: home page; web address: web log; spouse's name; job: title; job: company; and the person's picture/image. Has anyone noticed anything else? I'm happy to test & log it in bugzilla. Presumably I can't be the only person on this list with one of these phones, who'd like to see seamless contact syncing between all their devices. -- All the best, Nick. _______________________________________________ evolution-list mailing list [email protected] To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
