I appreciate the input. I've been trying to recreate the same
experience I have on my android phone, where all my emails come to one
inbox, and when I reply it replies with the correct address, and when
I read an email it is shown as read when I sign onto my home computer.

It sounds like I have a few options:

1) Create a label called inbox, and tag incoming mail with that tag.
problem: if I forward it then delete the original it will still show
up. or if I delete it from my android phone it will still show up with
a tag of inbox, even though it's in the delete folder, because all
downloaded mail gets tagged with ibox.

2) create a filter that copies all email locally to an inbox. problem:
changes made to that folder won't make their way back to the server
and to my phone.

3) deal with two inboxes.

4) ??

5) Profit.

Cheers,
AM
