Hi :) regarding to an issue [1] I tried to use an external editor as a workaround. Btw. it's available by default for Arch's Evolution 3.8.3 [2].
Unfortunately it doesn't work. It will open Evolution's editor window and when starting editing, it opens Gedit. When finished the message written in Gedit is shown by Evolution's editor window, but I neither can edit the mail addresses, nor can I send it using the existing address, if I reply. I can't close Evolution's editor window, even killall evolution doesn't work, I have to killall -9 evolution. Regards, Ralf [1] Likely that it doesn't pass list moderation. Reporting issues with Arch Linux usually is rejected by the list moderator, many other list users already were banned :D. From: Ralf Mardorf To: General Discussion about Arch Linux <[email protected]> Subject: Broken mouse behaviour for Evolution Date: Tue, 25 Jun 2013 11:44:08 +0200 Hi, there's an issue for Evolution 3.8.3-1, that seems to be caused by a dependency. From one day to the other using the mouse to mark text doesn't work anymore, resp. it does work for a very short while, if you close and open Evolution. Sometimes even clicking a folder or menu will mark something else, but not chose the folder oder open the menu. This issue only happens for Evolution, the mouse does work for all other applications as it should do. FWIW current message from Evolution, seems to be just the one I usually get: "(evolution:1272): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files" Any ideas what I need to fix? As a workaround, until I found another MUA that fit to my needs, I'll use the external editor plugin https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ev/evolution-plugins-experimental/evolution-plugins-experimental.tar.gz . If somebody want to use it too, it's outdated, here's the diff. $ diff PKGBUILD PKGBUILD.original 5c5 < pkgver=3.8.3 --- > pkgver=3.4.4 15c15 < sha256sums=('b0ee1eae5f4752eeb0b62c3be2daa08195ab4fd19092bfe6e75d02ac457ebe3a') --- > sha256sums=('7e541d0894c1d48b89820b6466edafe40215f8cdb45b1c0e9635cc15f49ecb9a') 27,28c27 < --disable-image-inline \ < --disable-text-highlight --- > --disable-image-inline I don't know if this will work, it's still compiling.
