Thank you Milan for the support. I followed your instructions (log out from gnome, log in to a console, stopped evolution and gdm, copy folders from the backup to the new home) but they did not solved my problem. So I decided to copy the whole .config/ and the whole .local/ trees from the backup, and in this way it worked! All mails and settings back where the was. Could this mean there is something else needed to restore your Evolution like it was before?
