I have gnome installed and the same problem exists for me when I use that desktop, so I don't think it's a KDE problem. Seems like someone besides me should be whining though.
I remember a while back, I had the same problem, and with an update, it was fixed. Then, with another update, it reoccurred. Oh, well... it certainly isn't the end of the world, just as I said, a minor annoyance. I was hoping someone would have a simply "do this" fix.
