As long as you followed the settings exactly, that should be fine.

I don't understand what you think I said about "the actual Gmail
account". Please point out the part that you find confusing.

Wherever you like. Create a new folder ("label" in Gmail terminology)
and just put it there. Refresh folder subscriptions in Evo so it will
see the new folder with your mail in it.
