Did you reboot the computer? If only one app is affected and "top" doesn't show anything, a reboot might do some magic.
Did you run Evolution in a terminal, or are there any useful messages provided by $ grep -i evolution ~/.xsession-errors ? Everything ok with $ df -h ?
