a related bug report is this, though 3.18.0+ material:

It doesn't "fix" it, but it lets you choose another calendar, when the
meeting is present in a calendar which is shared with someone else.
There is nothing wrong about it in particular, consider that you both
received the same invitation and the other user accepted it earlier
than you. That makes the event available in his calendar. As there is
no distinction between "my" and "someone else's" calendar, then it's in
a way of "first found wins", thus it sometimes can find the event in
his calendar and sometimes in yours, depending which is quicker than
the other.
