I have the option set and IIRC it has been > set for a long time, if not forever. > No, you want it unset so it doesn't wrap the quoted text - it's the wrapping that causes the single words on a line as the quoting depth increases. TBH reflowing is of limited use - as the quote depth increases, the line length of the quoted text will get shorter until it looks really stupid - and what happens when there's so many quotes there is no space for text!
