I suppose, in that case, you have your messages stored under On This
Computer. It means it's Maildir and if I recall correctly indexing on
the Maildir is disabled in the code, even in the recent development
version (to be 3.27.3 in two weeks). That means, even if you enable
indexing in the folder Properties, it won't do anything the next time
you run Evolution, except of using more disk space with unused files.
