That is wrong. With IMAP the mail is stored on a server and each MUA interrogates that server for the mail information. When a mail is needed its body is downloaded. Some MUAs may then cache a copy of the mail locally, but the definitive version is still, and always, the version that's on the server. So no, you can't delete a mail on one MUA and it still bre available on another. > IOW any kind of sync has got it's > pros and cons. IMAP is *not* a sync protocol. It is a client-server arrangement. The only 'syncing' that goes on is if the MUA does some form of off-line queuing of changes, at which point when the server is recontacted the information is synchronised. BUT there is nothing in the IMAP protocol to sort out in-coherencies and arbitrating between multiple client inconsistencies.
