I copied a folder named ross into ~/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/.ross , deleted folders.db and then waited for evolution to rebuild folders.db. (In the process I noticed that evolution only rebuilds index files as needed, or at least seems to, and that I had to view each folder briefly to get the index files rebuild. The folder .ross has not been indexed. Here is evidence. Note the lack of .ross.cmeta : $ cd /home/jonrysh/.local/share/evolution/mail/local $ ll -A ... -rw-rw-r--. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 28 Jan 11 23:08 .rge.cmeta drwx------. 5 jonrysh jonrysh 4096 Aug 15 13:53 .rooter -rw-rw-r--. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 28 Jan 11 23:08 .rooter.cmeta drwx------. 2 jonrysh jonrysh 4096 Jan 11 15:24 .ross drwx------. 5 jonrysh jonrysh 4096 Jul 6 2011 .rpm -rw-rw-r--. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 28 Jan 11 23:08 .rpm.cmeta drwx------. 5 jonrysh jonrysh 4096 Aug 18 2011 .rsnapshot -rw-rw-r--. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 28 Jan 11 23:08 .rsnapshot.cmeta ... $ ll -A .ross total 24 -rw-------. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 1583 Jul 9 1996 1 -rw-------. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 941 Jul 9 1996 2 -rw-------. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 3004 Jul 13 1996 3 -rw-------. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 1169 Jul 13 1996 4 -rw-------. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 1197 Jul 14 1996 5 -rw-------. 1 jonrysh jonrysh 716 Jul 14 1996 6 jon
