So the issue automagically solved itself, I suspect just by restarting the computer. I don’t believe that the update that caused that restart had anything to do with it, since the list of updated packages didn’t seem to have anything to do with Evolution. Lost opportunity to further investigate what was going on, on the other hand my calendar is back in order.
