Hmm. Sometimes I am forced to use (gasp) Outlook Express. But very
rarely. Or netscape/mozilla mail.

I think evolutions fltering capabilities are very fine. But the
problem is (and that is indeed a very BIG problem) that you have to
have evolution running. That will never work for me. Procmail
filtering does it the way it should do. Without even being logged on
the mail machine.

No... I wouldn't recommend that. My solution is to use imap all the
time. Even when I am running evolution on the same machine. This
works for me and I can use whatever MUA that support IMAP. For me it
is mostly evolution, but I on two different machines. And on the
road I am sometimes too lazy to reboot my laptop to linux only to
read my mail...;-) (When can we expect an win32-version of
evolution...<grin> ).

Go for imap. It may be a little slower, but the MUA:s will not screw
up your maildir.
