Assuming its bash, you need to do
export CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG
as well, or
export CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1
or simply (on the one command line)
CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 evolution-mail
You should get a log of all the imap traffic when you do this, so it
should be obvious when it works.
