Both work for me. (Evo 1.2.3, Mandrake 9.0, Gnome 2.0)
1. tested Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V on the new mail composer
2. I can drag-n-drop mails around to move them to other folders

As you are using the preview release, it may be broken there. Saw that
too late. But now we know, it is working in 1.2.x versions... ;-)
At least the second is not a minor nit -- that really is essential.
Maybe you should file a bug...
