No.  If I open a composer window and attach (ie without
evolution-launch-composer) and send it to myself, the image not only
displays right in evolution, but it also likes different in the email
source.

Tried that-- no go.  Evolution has an attachment with the proper
filename in the composer window, but it is a big square with an X in it,
rather than a thumbnail.
