gv (it stands for ghostview) is a postscript previewer (the GNU
postscript interpreter is called ghostscript). I don't understand how
you managed to open an HTML file in gv - I just tried it and got a
ghostscript error. You are meant to open postscript (*.ps) or portable
document format (*.pdf) files in it. Try it with a *.ps file, and see if
that works, or even easier, just try printing a *.ps file using lp from
the command line.
