As a counter to the many who have reported a performance problem with Evolution 1.4.4 on SuSE 8.2, the performance here is better with 1.4.x than the 1.2 versions. I have used Evolution on SuSE 8.2 with all the iterations of KDE and several of the Kernel upgrades. The performance is quite good on a computer that is not as powerful as some others are using and reporting performance problems. A window refresh is less than 1/2 second.
A difference may be that I am using the Evolution 1.4.4 build from usr-local-bin.org. There are some significant differences between the dependencies of Evolution as prepared by Mr. Ogley at usr-local-bin and the Evolution from Ximian.
