CVS = Concurrent Version System afaik = "As Far As I Know" CVS is where a program's latest/greatest resides. I've never used it but I believe you can go to Ximian's site and find a link to it. I could be wrong but I believe if you download from there you will need to compile the source code (the standard ./configure ... make ... make install routine) rather than install from rpm / apt / any prepackaged format. It's not overly hard but if you are as new as you claim, that may be something you're not ready for.
