Is 'epiphany' in your $PATH? Have you tried providing the binary
including the entire path there using the default apps capplet?
$ gnome-default-applications-properties
I assume it is set to "Custom Web Browser"?

Well... Yep. Mainly a tool to browse the XML structure. It has displaced
good old plain text files and emacs...
/me ducks and awaits some flames... ;)

No problem. The version only describes the configuration version and is
not necessarily the Evolution version.

yep

Not removing Galeon entries is up to the galeon package -- if it is
desired. Dunno. I don't expect this to be a problem.

Yep -- they are Gnome 1 (Evolution <=1.2) settings and should not affect
any Gnome 2 app (like Evolution 1.4.x).
However, if you do not need them, feel free to remove or uncomment them
for the sake of bug-hunting. I don't expect them top be evaluated,
though.

Neither do I. :)
I was just trying to find another key that may have priority over the
'unknown' value.
Well, maybe anyone knows more about other GConf keys that may affect the
default browser and hijack this??
