My (albiet not terribly extensive) experience in this area makes me
suspect that what version of Outlook is in user effects
interoperability. And this really applies to Outlook and ANY third
party package. With simply correct configuration the sending of
winmail.dat(s) {which is unmitigated broken behaviour} can be disabled.
winmail.dat(s) fail to work correctly in just about every mail package
other than Outlook.
