GNOME 2.2.  The daemon *appears* to be running, but I'm not too sure
about it.

I haven't got gnome control centre to run method 1,  I'll come back to
you when I'm back at home.  May be late, as there appears to be a
problem with my ADSL connection and/or my gateway.  Hoping it's not the
gateway, but you know Murphy's law :(
