I'm using Evolution 1.4.4 on Mandrake 9.2 on a fairly fast system, yet when I type a plain-text message, it takes about 7 seconds from the time I click the Send button until it appears in my Outbox (The word Outbox goes bold and a (1) appears next to it). During this time, the status bar at the bottom of the window says something like "Saving message to folder...". After that it leaves my outbox quickly.
All my folders, settings, home directory, etc. are on fast local disk, I have 512 MB RAM, etc. Spellcheck is disabled. It always behaves like this when I send messages, and it happens even if I have only 1 or 2 addresses in the "To:" list. Is this to be expected, or is there something wrong?
