I have this bug too. 1.4.5 freezes after being inactive for a while; the CPU monitor often reports that it uses 100% CPU cycles. After killing and restarting it works OK. I suspect that the freeze actually happens while auto-checking mail. But it's not IMAP, just several POP boxes. I do not use anything else besides these POP boxes and the contact list (i.e. no UNIX mbox spool account, no IMAP boxes, no newsgroups, I don't even use the calendar). I don't know how to get a backtrrace for a program that hangs rather than crashes; I'd be thankful for instructions so I can get it to you. (Right now it's version 1.4.5 patched for the subject line bug, but the same happened in original 1.4.5).
