Not sure what to suggest.  I guess, if you can get a good backtrace when
it hangs (run it in gdb, when it hangs, hit ctrl-c and then run 'thread
apply all bt', if you get a lot of ????'s, it isn't a good
backtrace ...), then submit a bug.  Otherwise try updating to 1.5.x
before reporting a bug.

FWIW i develop 1.5.x on 2.6.x (i..e the latest), and dont have such
issues.  But my 1.4.x environment is broken enough it would take a major
issue for me to try and ressurect it from its slumber.
