Using "*.*" wont work, because when you override the namespace the
client has to prepend that to every folder it shows.

i.e. it will try to open *.*.cmu.student.aphio.conventions.

Evolution properly handles the variable directory separator parameter of
the imap spec, but it hides it behind its api (and hence the error
message you're seeing doesn't include it).

But as jeff said, we only support a single namespace.  Some servers can
collapse all namespaces into the root namespace, but others can't.
