Not specific to Evo, but:
Some window managers/desktops can help with this. I don't know about
Gnome, but in KDE (gasp!) you can right click the title bar of a window
and select "Store Window Settings". The next time a window with the
*same title* is displayed, KDE will create the window with the same
size/location as it was last time (unless the app prevents this, which
does not usually happen).
