$prefix/sbin/bonobo-activation-sysconf --display-directories if it shows nothing, it's only configured to look for .server files in $prefix/lib/bonobo/servers. You can also try starting e-d-s from the command line - it'll tell you if it can't register with b-a-s for any reason.
