This appears to be a direct result of the problem I'm having with meeting invites not showing up (bug 58077). To get around it, I've been doing a "Save As" of the mail, taking the mail headers out of the file, and importing it. Problem is that - as shown below - the DESCRIPTION for the VALARM is just set to "Reminder" in the meeting request. So it's not exactly an Evolution problem - although maybe it should make sure that the VALARM DESCRIPTION includes the VEVENT SUMMARY.
