Ok, so you're reading a list of names from the LDAP server in the form "A B C" where "B C" is a compound last name in real life. Evolution treats them instead as "First Middle Last" and therefore sorts them incorrectly. Either your LDAP server is misconfigured and stores and/or send the information in a wrong format (placing the first part of last name in the middle name field) or Evolution fails to correctly parse this same information. In the second case, it's a bug. Unfortunately I don't have a LDAP server available to test this. Have you tried using a different software? Is it possible to see one of the LDAP entries in a different format, e.g. LFIF (?) or vCard? -- Alessio F.
